The Bad Kind?

When first introducing yourself to the world as a Type 1 Diabetic there are many questions that will begin to intrude your everyday life like
“Are you sure you can eat that?”
“Can you eat ice-cream still?”
“How well maintained is your diabetes?”
“Aren’t diabetics supposed to be fat?”
“My grandpa has diabetes and he says…” (Yes, not a question but this sentence happens quite often)
And the most important question of all,
“Is that the bad kind of diabetes?”
FIRST OF ALL, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? WHAT DO YOU MEAN? I DON’T UNDERSTAND THIS QUESTION.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS REALLY QUICKLY:
What does, “the bad kind,” actually mean? I actually don’t know. Partly because, Type 1 Diabetes is not considered “the bad kind.” Type 2 Diabetes is not considered “the bad kind.” They are both equally as bad and equally as good. I don’t understand how people have all of a sudden related diabetes to a “good kind” and a “bad kind” because is there really a good or bad kind. BOTH OF THEM SUCK. BUT BOTH OF THEM CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOR THE BETTER!!
Come on people of the world! Please start to educate yourselves!

SECOND OF ALL, LETS JUST PRAISE JESUS THEY KNOW THAT THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF DIABETES!!!!
YES THANK YOU JESUS!

THIRD OF ALL, most people assume that certain people have a good kind because they have CGMs or insulin pumps, but news flash, CGMS AND INSULIN PUMPS ARE NOT ALL CANDY CANES AND RAINBOWS!!!!!
Just because I have them doesn’t mean that it makes it any easier, I mean in some ways it does, but in other ways, it does not. Life with diabetes is hard regardless of what type you have, both come with struggles and both come with triumphs. So why is it a part of society to label one or the other, “good” or “bad”?

NEWSFLASH WORLD: THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF DIABETES. TYPE ONE AND TYPE TWO. Maybe next time someone asks you that question you slap them a Diabetes For Dummies Book. Or just give them a proper education.
